Inauguration ceremony of the first 35 MW Solar Power Plant in Vietnam

On October 05th, 2018, TTC Group and Gia Lai Electric Joint Stock Company (GEC), a member of the Group, held the inauguration ceremony of TTC Phong Dien Solar Power Plant in My Hoa hamlet, Dien Loc commune Phong Dien, Thua Thien Hue province. This is the very first 35 MW solar power plant to be opened in Vietnam.

TTC Phong Dien Solar Power Plant is invested by Gia Lai Electric JSC. The project is located about 50 km north of Hue city as the crow flies, about 16 km east of Phong Dien town center. It is built on an area of 45 hectares with a capacity of 35 MW and total investment nearly VND 1,000 billion.

The project was constructed in January 2018 with a total workforce of more than 300 domestic and foreign engineers and workers. Accordingly, 145,560 solar panels have been installed with modern technology and equipment, resulting in high efficiency. These panels will absorb the sun's radiation and convert it into electricity joining the electrical system.

So far, after 9 months of construction and installation of equipment, TTC Phong Dien Solar Power Plant has been officially put into operation and will generate electricity with an output capacity of 60 million kWh/ year. This output is nearly equal to the annual electricity consumption of 32,628 households in Vietnam, which is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 20,503 tons/ year.

The project will ensure the synchronous development of power sources and grids as well as the safe operation of the power system and the efficiency of the society’s overall investment, etc. In addition to limiting warming of the earth, protecting the environment, the factory also contributing to create jobs, socio-economic development in the local region.

Addressing the event, representatives of TTC Group shared: "TTC Phong Dien Solar Power Plant’s implementation operation are very important for TTC Group and Gia Lai Electric JSC. Although the industry is relatively new, with the active policy of the Government and the efforts of enterprises, Vietnam has enough room for confidence in developing clean, eco-friendly energy sources. It also contributes to the national energy supply, ensuring national energy security, as well as meeting the electricity demand of the residents.

Previously, on September 29th, 2018, the factory was officially run. It is expected until 2019, this plant will expand the capacity of 29.5 MW with an area of 38.5 hectares to meet a part of the demand for electricity consumption in the future.

Also in the inauguration ceremony, Gia Lai Electric Company gifted 5 houses to the families living under difficult circumstances in Phong Dien. This is the beauty that has been carried out by TTC and member companies in parallel with many other volunteer activities over the past years with the principle "For community – Develop the region".

In addition to the inauguration of the TTC Phong Dien solar power plant, it is expected that in the fourth quarter of 2018, Gia Lai Electric JSC will officially put TTC Krong Pa Solar Power Plant in Gia Lai province into operation. The project has a capacity of 49 MW with total investment capital over VND 1,406 billion carrying the objective of producing and distributing solar power.

In addition to the traditional types of renewable energy that TTC Group has the advantages such as hydropower and biomass power, previously TTC Group has been continuously preparing and implementing other energy projects, such as: wind power, solar power, rooftop (solar panels installed on roof), etc.

Currently, only in this solar energy sector, TTC Energy is implementing 6 plants to be supplemented with planning and operation before June 2019. In their strategic Plan to 2020, TTC will increase the total capacity up to 1,000 MW in cities and provinces with great potential for solar power development, etc.
