President Joe Biden expresses his gratitude after his visit to Vietnam, highlighting his meetings with President Vo Van Thuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
"President Vo Van Thuong, thank you for a very fruitful meeting. Our current partnership aims to unlock the potential of our people and opens up a world of possibilities," U.S. President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter on September 11, following his departure from Vietnam, concluding his state visit.
Biden also mentioned how "wonderful" it was to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi. "Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, along with the new semiconductor agreement, will help us build a strong future together," he added.
The U.S. President also posted a photo of his handshake with National Assembly Chair Vuong Dinh Hue during the meeting at the National Assembly on September 11, along with a photo from his visit to the bas-relief of Senator John McCain, who advocated for Vietnam-U.S. relations.
In his first message upon arriving in Vietnam on September 10, President Biden expressed his appreciation for the "warm welcome" by the host country and emphasized that it was a "historic visit."
He also posted a photo of his handshake with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong with the caption: "It was wonderful to have a conversation with General Secretary."
President Biden visited Vietnam at the state level on September 10-11. On the evening of September 10, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with President Biden after the formal welcome ceremony, announcing the establishment of the Vietnam-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
Both leaders agreed that the top priorities for the development of Vietnam-U.S. relations are full respect for the fundamental principles guiding the bilateral relationship, including respect for the United Nations Charter, international law, and the political systems, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of each other.
Vietnam and the United States will continue to deepen cooperation in specific areas to ensure the interests of both peoples and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in the region and the world.
