Can Tho Prepares to Release Nearly 1,000 Affordable Social Housing Units

The Department of Construction of Can Tho City has announced its intention to accept registrations for the purchase of nearly 1,000 social housing units in the Nam Long 2 project starting from August 16th.

This project is located on an area of over 3.8 hectares in Hung Thanh Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City. It is a social housing project developed by Nam Long Investment Corporation - Can Tho branch.

The project comprises 12 buildings, with a maximum height of 9 stories, housing approximately 1,600 apartments. Among them, there are 962 units of social housing for sale, 320 units for rent, and 320 units for commercial sale. The apartment sizes range from 38 square meters to 60 square meters.

The Department of Construction of Can Tho City has indicated that they plan to accept applications for renting and purchasing social housing units in this project from August 16th until the end of this year.

The average selling price for social housing is approximately VND 15.8 million per square meter (excluding VAT and maintenance fees). Thus, the most affordable social housing unit here can be priced as low as VND 600 million. The rental price for social housing in the project is VND 70,000 per square meter per month.

According to the report from the People's Committee of Can Tho City, by the end of July, the locality had six social housing projects for low-income individuals in urban areas. Among them, three projects have already been put into use with nearly 600 units. Three ongoing projects can potentially provide nearly 1,900 housing units.

By 2025, Can Tho City is tasked with developing 4,100 social housing units and an additional 5,000 units in the following five years. Currently, there are no investment projects for housing industrial workers in the city.
